there's no beauty to be found in these dreams, cold as they are. all there is, is an exceptional sight: the horizon is all blank. there's waking, and the horizon is bleak, black as far as the eye can see. it's a jarring contrast to before's all-white landscape.

dream + achieved + qualms
i dream of goals, place them in the parameters of my mind - watch them. leave them to gather rust and dust, visit rarely and dull. when they are achieved time to mark them off, take down the signifiers and move swiftly on. no looking back yet; no making time for regret. have… Continue reading dream + achieved + qualms
Turbulent
Flash Fiction July, 26 In her nineteenth year she begins keeping a dream journal. It happens when a few too many sleepless nights morph into sleep-filled nights, heavy sleep where there's been a slow-going burnout after weeks of not sleeping properly, and then the dreams show up. They never happen when she lies awake, never… Continue reading Turbulent
Contemplation of a Manor
Flash Fiction July, 5. Sometimes I see the house. It normally appears on the nights that I haven't taken anything promoting sleep, haven't done anything more than light a candle when readying for bed. Some nights, I complete a ritual before sleep, and it doesn't do anything for my dreams. Tonight, I've only burned down the… Continue reading Contemplation of a Manor
elixir (300)
widdershins, came the voice from behind me, somewhere to my right. i stirred, raising my head, murmuring the incantation slower than before. turn to the voice, i could not. i could not look to her, gage a reaction or try to read her expression. she was coaching me, this elixir normally beyond my skills. it had… Continue reading elixir (300)

borrowed confidence: this is what you can do. this is what you were meant to do. (this loan has no expiry date.) take the loan and run with it. run, as far and fast as you can. (don't stop to risk a double-think; don't pause long enough to disappoint your creditor) blind faith is laid… Continue reading NaPoWriMo 24 (borrowed/disappointment)
a scattering
you scatter sleep in my eyes and pull the blankets up. bring me to sleep or sleep to me though i can't be sure which is which. colour in the nights with dreams or don't but those are the dullest nights. throw day over the world disappear into shadows and return later.
Semi-Nightmares
It's been a while since I did a Daily Prompt response, but then I haven't really needed to. Anyway, I remember a "nightmare" from years ago. I suppose it was a nightmare in the traditional sense that I woke up startled, or... not disturbed, per se, but I guess a little shaken. It's one of the… Continue reading Semi-Nightmares
tonight
it's the same old story. stars steady in the sky: they fall in a shower. you grab a handful and i hide them for wishes. city smog obscures the view: we remain sequestered in squares. rattling cars and heavy thunder hide the night from us. night passes easily and painlessly: as ever we are unaware.… Continue reading tonight
the haunting
you're here even when you're not. tall dark shadow or a somber pale ghost, beckoning me. draw my attention to you entranced, i can't get away. and you're here, there or wait, maybe there or here. either way i remain trapped stuck fast by your scrutiny. and so it goes that sleep should be my… Continue reading the haunting
