NaPoWriMo 18 (breath)

take the breath from
my lungs.
give me charcoal in its
place
and i’ll collect stardust.

inhale chaos –
breathe out freedom.
(tastes like ash;
cold lips desperately trying to
oxygenate)

sticking in the throat –
drawn in,
conjured from nowhere.
choke gently,
coughing lightly –
tastes like dust.

let me take
the breath from your
lungs.
freeing up your spirit;
allowing conversion of
oxygen to carbon.

and again,
maintaining sharp edges,
blades working to
diamond.

(gasping for breath –
atmospheric bubble.
trading oxygen between
lungs.
self-sustaining)

create chaos in your
lungs –
there’s enough oxygen here
to destroy
us both.
