the first.
decades unfold,
spanning years upon years.

you are here but
never quite.
you are hard to picture,
a faded photo.

imagine:
the second.
decades unfold,
spanning years upon years.

you are not here,
ever.
you left years ago,
barely a memory now.

imagine:
two futures.
one has to triumph
over the other.
