Poetry 101 Rehab: Hiatus

the hiatus is
sporadic.
i never know
when the next one
will occur.

some nights will be
haunted,
the days littered with
shadows that never
leave.

(hint: this happens more
often than not)

your shadow never knows
when to leave and i,
i never know your
name.

one day to another
you delight in torment
games you
stole
from me.

and one night
you flee.

you’re gone
for good this time.
i can see it in
the space that
resembles
every hiatus you
ever gave me.

(in the morning i
awake to dark and
streetlights shining
like
stars)

  1. I especially fell in love with this part:
    “your shadow never knows
    when to leave and i,
    i never know your
    name.

It’s so emotional, so captivating, so impressive and so heartfelt. I am absolutely amazed.
Also the lines in brackets are emphasizing the athmosphere of the whole poem 🙂
