Poetry 101 Rehab: Found

i am the finder.

every so often
i come across you
quite by accident.

i never look for you:
i quit after
that one incident.
(you remember the one?
not easy to forget)

then again you’re not
easy to
forget.
you make patterns;
you are predictable and
lead me to you.

i don’t even have to try.

you are here
before i even begin looking.
we are not magnetized but
even the longest separation is
not a deterrent.

it continues like this
year in, year out
ad infinitum.
(could never be tired
of finding you)

but tell me –
when will you be the one
to find me?

  1. Love this, very original and I really like the form you’ve used; random and emphasises the “by accident” part, like it’s been pieced together by accident.

  2. I adore the play around the concepts of seeking and finding and role switching between the seeker and the sought, the finder and the found… Whew, what a found poem!
