they tell us we
should recycle,
find new uses and homes for items.
stop them going to waste.
i used to put you away
to one side until
i needed you again.
– or wanted, but what’s
the difference?
hide you away and
bring you out as required.
always in a new
incarnation.
(upgraded, upcycled,
remodeled)
and then i threw you away
for good.
you came back
with a new purpose.
not going to waste.
That’s a great, thoughtful, even meditative poem that invites the reader to muse along with you… I like it that there many meanings and many possible interpretations opening in your poem!

Thank you so much! I’m not quite sure how this happened – I wonder if the pen and paper co-conspired to produce this.

Powerful words.
And it struck me that it reminded me of the relationship I had with one particular ex-boyfriend :O

Thank you!
I hope it wasn’t anything bad for you. This was inspired by one of my own particular friendships… universal sort of theme, it seems.
