Poetry 101 Rehab: Recycling

they tell us we
should recycle,
find new uses and homes for items.
stop them going to waste.

i used to put you away
to one side until
i needed you again.
– or wanted, but what’s
the difference?

hide you away and
bring you out as required.
always in a new

(upgraded, upcycled,

and then i threw you away
for good.
you came back
with a new purpose.

not going to waste.

  1. That’s a great, thoughtful, even meditative poem that invites the reader to muse along with you… I like it that there many meanings and many possible interpretations opening in your poem!
