This one really is tricky. I’m having to read a bit about Mars just to see what’s going on.
Alright, I’m going to pretend that my loved ones and the other people for whom I care are with me. I think I’d most miss my earthly life. The one where I can use technology and read books and have the chance to travel from country to country. Does Mars have various other countries? As far as I can tell, it doesn’t.
I concede, there’s technology being used to study the planet and its life, so maybe I could use various technology there, but can it support human life, for as long as I have left? That’s decades.
No… Now I think of it, the thing I would miss the most would be familiarity. Because Mars is totally foreign; it’s literally another planet. True, I want to explore the world, but I’d like to stay on this planet. I’d miss knowing my news sources and food and people around me. I’ve moved in the past from a little town to a big city and that was jarring enough at first. I don’t want to go from one planet to another.
Besides, I don’t think they have Domino’s Pizza on Mars.

Familiarity. . . you made me think, I wouldn’t miss familiarity. I like to explore, but I want to feel comfortable as well, that would imply feeling comfortable be the familiarity that surrounds me, but now I think that comfortable depends, for me at least on my perspective of what surrounds me. . . hummmm. Still thinking. I like the surge of ideas I got from your post, thank you.

I link familiarity with comfort. For me comfort comes from knowing what to expect – but then again, exploring could be the same in a lot of places.
I definitely agree that comfort is related to what/who surrounds me. I have a sort of perfect scenario in mind where I’m at my most comfortable.
Thanks for the feedback, and I’m glad you got ideas from my post 🙂

Pizza’s kind of a deal breaker. If Mars can offer pizza I’ll pay a visit 🙂

I’m a SF nut, so the idea of exploring another planet sounds wonderful – pizza or no pizza. Maybe I could take my pizza oven along and I could make you one 🙂

I’m partial to SF on occasion. My curiosity would win out in the end, I think. And I’m deeply envious that you have a pizza oven – sounds good 🙂
